WBS Group are based in Wantage, Oxfordshire. We have a core team of highly selected individuals, with a growing team of additional alliance partners and specialist consultants.

The first prerequisite for joining the WBS team is a practical, hands-on knowledge and experience of your subject. You also have to have a passion for investigation, constructive tinkering, and problem solving.

Joe Turnbull

Founder and Chairman

Joe has more than 25 years experience in manufacturing and supply chain, during which time he has built million square foot distribution facilities, re-built factories, closed factories and dealt with the full spectrum of supply chain issues, from post-merger integration to software implementation. Brian Whitford MBE

Managing Director

Brian joined WBS to lead and strengthen our strategic team. Brian is an accomplished Managing Director with proven capacity to devise and implement growth strategies. Experienced in initiating and managing change, together with proven leadership qualities. Brian was honoured in 1997 for services to industry and is a fellow of the Institute of Directors. Peter Abrahamsen


A respected senior consultant with an in-depth background in supply chain and manufacturing. Peter has an extensive track-record in managing projects all the way through from conception to completion. His intimate understanding of the culture of supply chain and manufacturing means that he is equally at home on the shop floor as he is in the boardroom. Email Peter

Jackie Gear

Office Manager

Jackie joined WBS Group in 2010 and came with a wealth of experience in office administration and events management. Jackie is the friendly voice on the telephone and the cool, calm, and collected person in the office making sure that everything is ready and that our consultants are at the right place at the right time.

Elaine Johnson

Finance Manager

Elaine joined WBS Group in 2014 as our in-house finance manager after having managed our accounts for a number of years at her previous employer. Elaine initially qualified as an engineer, but a later career-change saw her qualify as a certified accountant. After analysing the performance of jet engines, she now analyses our finances. Elaine manages all aspects of our finances from consultants’ timesheets through invoicing to dealing with the tax man.

David Grahamslaw

Associate Director - Business Development

David is an experienced Supply Chain and Logistics Consultant with a background in Logistics Operations, Business Development and Account Management, gained primarily within a Third Party Logistics environment. He has had eight years as an elected Board Member and Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), is Vice Chairman of the West Midlands Region, and is a member of the Outsourcing and Procurement Committee. Alv Hill

Senior Consultant

Alv is an experienced senior consultant specialising in business optimisation, supply chain strategy, asset utilisation improvement and restructuring of manufacturing businesses. He has operated at management, director and consultant levels within pharmaceutical, logistics, banking, aerospace, and communications.

Gavin Bridges

Senior Consultant

Gavin is a highly experienced performance improvement and programme/project manager. Working experience in ERP Systems includes: JDA Inventory Optimiser, Sage 500, SAP and many more. Gavin has an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, is a Chartered Engineer, and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He also holds an EITB Fellowship in Manufacturing Management.

Sophie Breslin


Sophie is a Lean Process & Systems Designer; a strategic thinker, able to use own initiative within challenging environments to get results. A positive communicator and coach whose key strengths include having strong analytical skills combined with a practical approach to successfully solving operational problems, achieving ‘right first time’ production. Key skills include: MOD Security Clearance (through Rolls Royce), Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Business Systems & Process Analysis and more.

Mary Bowling


A Manufacturing and People Manager with over 20 years varied experience that includes team, budget, process and project management. A change agent who uses lean principles to quickly assess a process, and the problems associated, and then implement changes using lean tools and techniques to improve overall efficiency. Experienced leader in operations planning, supply chain logistics and procurement set up.

Gerald Sutton


Gerald is an experienced Senior Consultant with in-depth knowledge of the retail sector. Gerald has completed several performance improvement projects in manufacturing, warehousing and logistics and understands how these aspects of a business interact and interlink both in terms of processes and systems.
